Archive: Santa Maria della Salute

The Santa Maria della Salute, commonly known as the Salute, is a Roman Catholic church located in Venice, Italy. Widely seen by visitors of Venice as it is perched right on the Grand Canal before the entering the Piazza San Marco. In 1630, Venice was devastated with an unusual plague outbreak. The Republic of Venice vowed to build and dedicate this church to Our Lady of Deliverance (Italian: Salute).
